Research
Our main research areas are in the field of freshwater biology. Research projects are often in cooperation with other institutes such as the University of Iceland, Holar Agricultural College and the Institute of Freshwater Fisheries. The main project over the last years has been the ESIL project. Other projects involve e.g. the biology of the tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus arcticus) and Arctic Charr (salvelinus alpinus) in lake Þingvallavatn. We have also participated in international projects, such as NORLAKE and now recently in the Euro-limpacs project, which is funded by the EU.

A bibliography of Icelandic chironomid research
Chironomids (Insecta, Diptera) are common in Icelandic water systems and there have been quite a few studies regarding them over the years. Below is a bibliography of research including Icelandic chironomids, based on references listed in the chironomid publication of the Zoology of Iceland (2005) plus additional references. Compiled by Þóra Hrafnsdóttir: thora@natkop.is
Updated 14. desember 2006.

References are listed in alphabetical order by the authors´ second name. Icelandic titles and institutes´ names are given in English in parentheses.
